Hey, are you still trying to do everything yourself? Are you filling your days with tasks and projects that could easily be done by someone else… like a personal assistant or a high school student or someone with more experience than you?
Listen, you need to start hiring someone else to do some of these incidental or specialized tasks so you can spend your time doing what you’re good at, what comes easily to you, what turns you on. Quit trying to do it all! You’re wasting your time, your talent and your energy… and your impeding the success of your business.
Really. If you’re still trying to do it all, you are slowing down your progress and taking the fast road to burnout. Do what you do best and leave the rest to someone else!
Some of you have told me “I don’t have the money to hire anybody.” Really? There are professional services available, especially in the areas of administrative, personal assistants, secretarial, data entry, writing, transcribing that are readily available and really inexpensive. Yes, it will take you some time to figure out the right person to hire, but once you do, you will save yourself hours and hours of time. And money!
Just the other day I was working with a client had already spent almost 5 days trying to figure out a shopping cart system… and it still wasn’t doing what she wanted. She was so frustrated! She had poured endless days into something that wasn’t paying off for her, days she could have used to reach out to new clients, write blogs posts or develop new money-making programs. But no, she insisted on “doing it herself.” What she tried to do in 5 days would have taken a shopping cart expert 5 minutes. It would have cost her next to nothing!
Honest to Pete, you have to get rid of the mentality that says working for yourself means doing everything yourself.
Yes, I’m sure you can enter email addresses into your database. Yes, I’m sure you can figure out how to make a newsletter template or find groovy photos for your blog posts. But just because you CAN doesn’t mean you should do it! Give those tasks to someone else and direct your energies to what you do best and to what will build your business.
