Are you ripe for a breakthrough?
Are you ready to bump up
your own personal status quo?
Have you been nagged by the feeling that, with a little more time and attention, that creative project, practice or goal you’ve been working towards could bounce up into a whole new level of ease, productivity, positive energy and excellence?
The reason I’m asking is, I’ve been feeling this way for 2 months or more, and now I’m going to do something about it.
And I want you to join me!
As some of you know, I’m a jazz-pop singer as well as a marketing/social media evangelist. Singing is my longtime love. It’s deeply connected to my soul and spirit, and it feeds me at a very deep level. It also challenges me at an equally deep level. And for months now, I’ve had this feeling that I’m dancing on the edge of a vocal breakthrough, a shift that would allow me to sing consistently with more ease, freedom and joy. Lately, when I finish practicing, I’ll feel inspired, encouraged, and I’m thinking, “Man, if I can keep working this edge, if I come back to it tomorrow, I know I can make this shift!”
But I don’t come back to it tomorrow. In fact, 3 or 4 days may go by before I practice again. Because I, like you, have a million different things to do everyday, so sometimes practicing gets chucked onto the “I’ll do that tomorrow” list. As a result, I haven’t been able to break through to that new level I feel is waiting for me. Instead, I simply maintain my own personal status quo.
But that status quo is starting to feel more like a lead weight around my creative neck. It’s time to cut it loose!
The Firecracker 30-Day, One Hour a Day Challenge
Here’s what I’m going to do and, if you feel inspired to do so, I hope you’ll do it with me.
For 30 days, starting March 1, 2011, I am committed to focusing one hour a day to singing. Every day except Sundays. And the only reason I’m giving myself Sundays off is because when it comes to singing, vocal rest can be as beneficial as practicing. My intention in this is clear: that by giving myself this hour every day I stand a better chance of reaching a new level of ease, freedom and authenticity when I sing. In other words, I want to raise my setp-point, uplevel my own status quo.
What about you? What if you made a commitment to devote an hour a day for 30 days to something that’s important to you, something that fees ripe and ready for a breakthrough? It could be writing that book of yours, or practicing Tai Chi, or interacting with your fans, revising your marketing plan, or being with your family. Or (one of my favorites) listening to all those recorded teleclasses you paid for.
Is there a project that’s calling to you but you never seem to have enough time or energy to move it ahead? Is there some practice you do sporadically that could create a huge shift for you if you did it every day?
Well, join me and take The Firecracker 30-Day, One Hour a Day Challenge! And let’s see what kind of results we can get in just 30 days.
It’s this simple: Commit to giving yourself one fully-focused hour a day for 30 days to devote to some practice, project, or goal that means a lot to you (otherewise, what’s the point?) with the intention of raising your own level of ease, productivity, satisfaction, creative joy, profitability, or what have you. In other words, raise the bar and bump up your own status quo! Let me know what you’re working on for this Challenge by commenting on this blog post, and I’ll do my best to support you in any way I can.
Hey, I don’t have any illusions about this. This Challenge sounds great to me right now. I’m pumped! I’m excited! I’m ready for great results! But I know that when I get to Day 12 and it’s midnight and I still haven’t sung a note, this Challenge is going to sound like a really bad idea. But that’s part of any challenge, right? Coming up against those places inside where we “just don’t wanna!” (It’s called resistance, and we’ll be taking more about it in these upcoming 30 days).
So, let’s support and encourage each other! I promise you, I’ll be completely honest about how I’m doing with this Challenge. And you can either be completely honest or lie through your teeth. But it you feel inspired by this Challenge, join me!
Make a comment on this blog post and tell me what you’re working towards and what you hope to gain by taking the Firecracker 30-Day, One Hour a Day Challenge. Or join the discussion on the Firecracker Facebook Page!
