Here’s Your Quick, Kick-Ass Copy and Content Creation Tip for Today!
Sometimes, you can get so caught up in trying to do things “right,” or making a sale, or in writing “good copy” that you lose the heart of your message. You don’t mean to. It just happens sometimes.
When you are writing to your ideal clients, whether it’s in an email or on a sales page or even when you’re writing a video script, remember that your intention is not to simply spill out a lot of information. Your primary intention is to make a heart-to-heart, gut-to-gut, human-to-human connection with whomever you are communicating.
You can try to dazzle your clients with a ton of high-value content, insightful facts and figures and entertaining anecdotes, but if you’re not engaging them at that heart-to-heart level, you’re not making the kind of connection that will inspire them to invest in you and your services. Nor are you developing a relationship of trust with those prospects and client.
So, here are two tips that will help you make that kind of heart-to-heart connection when you’re writing to your ideal clients:
Tap Into the Heart of Your Message
Before you write a word of copy, make sure that you are fully tapped in to the heart of your message. What is it that you really want to say? What are you wanting to communicate? And WHY is it important to you to get that message heard and understood by your clients?
If you’re having trouble identifying the heart of your message, use this prompt:
“What I really want to say is…” Then see what comes to you.(Oh yeah, that’s tweetable! Tweet it now!)
By the way, that’s a great prompt for you anytime you feel stuck for the right words or you want to get to the heart of the matter.
Okay… on to tip #2:
Remember Who You’re Talking To
You’re not just writing to amuse yourself, are you? You are writing to communicate your message to someone. Who is that Someone? Can you see your ideal client in your mind’s eye?
When you write, be sure you know to whom you are writing! And let yourself write with the intention to connect, reach, touch and inspire that person.
If you apply both of these tips, it will be a hell of a lot easier for you to make a connection with your ideal client through your copy and content. Plus, whatever you write will be much more powerful, juicy and irresistible.
In short, stay connected to your own desire and intention to connect and communicate with your clients or prospective clients. Let your words flow from that desire. Stay true to who you are and write from the heart.
