A Quick, Kick-Ass Copy & Content Creation Tip!
Who you are matters. And I don’t mean in some esoteric, cosmic, Oprah-esque way.
It matters when it comes to the overall power and effectiveness of your content and copy.
Here’s what I mean:
When you sit down to write a blog post or e-newsletter or web page or what have you, what is your state of being?
Are you being the “you” who is excited and connected to your message?
The “you” who really has something to say and share?
Or are you being the “you” who feels rushed and pressured to just get this damned piece of content finished and done with?
Are you being the “you” who is passionate and confident about the value of what you offer your clients, or are you swirling in doubt and uncertainty and wondering if your business is ever going to work?
Are you being the “you” who loves what you do, loves your clients and loves sharing what you know? Or are you the “you” who feels worn out, overwhelmed and slightly resentful that you decided to write a newsletter every week?
Let’s face it. As entrepreneurs, we have our own strange case of multi-personality disorder. We can be so on-fire and ready to take on the world one day, only to feel like miserable failures the next. We can be in love with every aspect of our work and life, and then next week, we feel overloaded with responsibilities. On top of this, we all have ebbs and flows of energy, attention and enthusiasm. Hey, we’re only human.
But when it comes to writing copy and content that connects and makes a difference, who you are being while you create that content makes all the difference in the world. Your energy and intention, your commitment and passion, your eagerness and excitement will shine through your words. And so will your resentment, doubt and indifference.
Sure, I can give you whole barrel full of copywriting tips, techniques, do’s and don’t’s, and sure-fire formulas. But you know what? Who you are being when you write your copy has a greater impact on the overall power and effectiveness of your copy than a ten-ton truckload of groovy copywriting techniques.
So, my million dollar tip for you today is this: When you sit down to write any piece of content or copy or communication to your clients or potential clients, do you best to get fully connected to the You who really has something to say and share. The You who is confident in your message and your ability to help, provide value and uplift others. The You who loves what you do, loves your clients and loves sharing your gifts.
Be the You who gives a damn. No, I mean really gives a damn. The You who cares enough to write from the heart and say what you mean.
