Facebook Love Notes! Tough Love Tuesday Tip

Do you leave love notes for people on their Facebook Walls?

No, I don’t mean littering people’s Walls with annoying apps like Fortune Cookie or Farmville. I’m talking about personal notes expressing your love, appreciation, or high regard for either that person or something that business or person offers?

For instance, just the other day I was listening to a CD I hadn’t heard in awhile, At Home, featuring my friend Shaynee Rainbolt, a very talented singer. As I was listening, I was struck by how great this CD really is. So, I went to Shaynee’s Wall on Facebook and left her a public love note that stated her how much I enjoyed listening to her CD and that killer arrangement of “I Only Have Eyes For You.”

I did the same thing last week after picking up some incredibly delicious sandwiches from Stone Soup, a local restaurant. After scarfing down and totally enjoying one of their grilled salmon wraps, I went to their Facebook Wall and left a note of appreciation that said: “Stone Soup hits it out of the park again! Just chowed down on your great salmon wrap (dig that wasabi aioli!).

What if you took a few minutes out of your day to post notes of appreciation on other people’s Facebook Walls? Or on Twitter? (see below).

No Fans for You Today, Rock Star! Tough Love Tuesday

This morning I took myself on a little cyber tour of independent artist websites, and I was shocked.

Actually, horrified is more like it.

I randomly visited the websites of four singers, two singer/songwriters, two jazz guitarists, two visual artists and one trombone player. And from what I found on those websites, it seems that not one of these artists has any desire to build their fan base, because they either made it next to impossible to find out how to sign-up for their mailing list, or they had the teeniest, tiniest sign-up form squished into some obscure nook of every webpage. AND not one, NOT ONE of these artists offered me any reason to want to sign up for their email list.

You guys are killing me here!

How are you going to build a fan-base this way!

How are you going to invite me to your next show, get me interested in who you are as an artist and turn me into a loyal fan if you don’t have a way to connect with me!

A Quick Tip for Your Ezine or E-newsletter

Do you send out a regular ezine or e-newsletter to your clients, potential clients or fans?

If not, WHY NOT?  If you do, I have a quick tip for you.

First, if you DON’T send regular emails or an e-newsletter to your email list, you’re missing out! Email is one of the best ways to build and fortify relationships of loyalty, trust and genuine interest with your clients and fans. Plus, direct email is more often than not where any sale is made, at least, in the Internet marketing world. By this I mean that your clients or fans are more apt to buy something from you as a result of an email you send to them than they are from some other form of communication, like a blog post, article, tweet or Facebook post.

One of the reasons for this is that email, whether through a formal newsletter or a short textural note, allows you to be more direct, personable and revealing with your client or fan. You can offer more of yourself, your personality and your services through an email than you can a status update, and you can be more casual and forthcoming than you would in, say, a blog post.

Email is the closest thing we have in the Internet marketing world to a personal letter. And everyone loves getting a personal letter from a good friend, right?
